You will know me not

but then you might
however, I bite

I could be the fearsome hawk
flying solely
futilely high
a sky only the remain of my day
over barren hay

I could be the capable doe
suckled by babe
in shadowed hedgerow

and yet you will know me not

for I am not of this stratum
that you know for yourself

and there is more to me
than a thesaurus on a shelf

you know me not

I could you be your wind, your hollow
I might be the winged swept swallow
then of course there could be
the very me in thee…

but you will know me not

tangerine comes to mind
in that there's my mother's sign
where she said "this color's for you"
and I thought "you haven't a clue"

but tangerine now I could be
resting in bird's feather in yon tree

but I'd rather be the fearsome hawk
and make you sit, and read, and gawk

and wonder you if she'd lost her mind
and it so ever intertwined……

on each breath of verse
from pen to page now laid

I knew you then
I'm proud to call you poet and friend

We see what we wish to see in people, some times we see only the beauty and other times we see only the flaws, but sometimes in rare moments we see both like two different lovers becoming one.

Bringing joy each day as the rising sun dawns
breaking through chains of each cold night,
Spreading happy rays giving hope and cheer,
preparing wounded souls for another fight.

A dream like state you leave the eyes in,
each evening like sun setting in the west,
Lending azure crimsoned light, spreading
confidence and peace for tired body to rest.

Yet of your form and shape, one knows not
Of your eyes and hair, one doesn't know,
but appearances are for the non-believers -
the kindred soul within is what I know.

Therefore I think I know you well from
your kind words and your lovely thoughts
