you can't touch me.
no one can touch me
with more than words.

I brush them off.
I'm sick of crying
to the radio only.

friendless energy,
loneliness numbs
the remainder of skin.

watch it flake and turn
like fiery autumn.
then black winter ground.

the spider princess is dead.
we should all be surprised
and thankful she died.

all for a new one.
thank you, beauty.
thank you, haunted life.

I don't want to die;
I just want to live.
when will my chance arrive?

how much longer
must I squirt the pulp
out of skinned sour grapes?

how many times
must the closest thing to dangerous
be waking with bites?

how many times
must I hear "I love you"
before it sounds right?

I can imagine kicking the chair,
so its legs point straight up
to the roofed-out dead sky.

I'm sure I could crack
every CD I own.
**** on every book.

I could even take a knife
and slash myself away;
but I'd rather just lie.

I'd rather go outside.
talk to people freely.
meet my pretty girl.

tear this net off me.
drop the nails from my pockets.
have someone else nurse the cobra.

I hate being full of venom.
I pump it out with prayer,
and self-worth, whatever deeds.

but it comes back tinged
in the poison of waiting:
hope's longing and sadness.

it comes back with me
wondering what's wrong with me:
why can't I put on a mask?

I just want her here,
so I can say I love her, too.
we could do our best to try.

we wouldn't have to be
afraid to laugh or cry
or even in a fight.

it would all turn out all right.

I just want the beauty
of the ocean and the sky,
and the sun where it meets the two.

to a point. to an eye.
to two mouths kissing.
holding hands and wishing for you.

no, I don't want to die.
I just want to live.

b: if true to life, then let it go, and breath. A powerful piece, this. Thank you for sharing.

Oh Mike .. if I had words of wisdom to ease the heartache behind these words, I'd surely pen them. This was powerfully written and drew me in with such longing and pain. Incredible expression ... take care dear soul, hugs to you.

Best wishes,
/Kit
