Funny how rumours are created when all they mean are hate Funny how we find those words comforting to hurt others we have never meet What happend to our Passions the poetry that once reigned here It has been lost to rumours and rehtoric for other peoples problems Oh yes a BBS, this site has become Drowning in ICQ rumours and falling lower than anything else But hey we still write those words and attempt to offer our excuse And private mails to each other that are meant for pain But I wonder when they will awake from the foolishness they began And stop the BS they have started to become adults again I wonder when our Passions will once agin reign For words of poetry that we all could really love. |

Micheal, great message, its unfortunate that with human interaction this happens. Poets can be the worst gossips. I think since these posts its time to look at ourselves and decide if what we say about other poeple is not very nice or the joke we think is a joke may not be taken that way by the person we are telling it to. I for one wiil try and look closely at what I say. Often I bet we don't even notice when we are doing it... Well great message... I think janet just flashed you... parker |

The nail has once again been smitten mightily on the head. It happens here, Michael. Sometimes things just go too smoothly and it is necessary for some to begin crusades for whatever reasons. We've gone through adultry, homelessness, the environment, abuse, child abuse, animal abuse, spousal abuse, gossip, depression,stalkers and internet romeos and a variety of items too numerous to list. When it is poetry to bring attention to a particular circumstance that's fine because poetry does that...but when it starts sounding like the Salem Witch Trials and causing poets to start pointing fingers and wondering about their neighbors then it's gone too far and yet that's what happens. I suggest you just go to the "Just Say No" theory, or in this case Just Say Nothing. When the crusaders show up, don't respond. Target the good poetry, the actual poetry, and let these people wallow alone. There's no other way. Thank you for sounding out on this... |

Just to clarify myself here. I am not a crusader in any strict sense. Gossip is not worth crusading for anyway. I think its mostly a big joke. I don't take it to seriously and don't let it harm my feelings. Some people worry about it too much. I don’t take to much credence in it, or believing that the world is hearing it. On the other hand mean spirited lies, now that I take seriously. Those people have a problem. I don't think they're are anybody in that category at passions or I would hope not. My view is really to make fun of the whole thing, because most innocent gossip is just that. I am not going to stop from jumping on the joke bandwagon just because 1 or 2 may be offended with innocent words. Not to take away from my previous reply, but I do agree with Balladeer. Crusades take away from the poetry. Within a large group of people things are said, mostly innocent we just need a thicker skin. My experience here has shown me that poets do talk to each other and when you get in a circle things get said and changed and mostly not on purpose. I must apologize for saying poets are the worst gossips.... its lawyers... Only deer and long John are the bad poet gossips around here, so they must be lawyers too. Parker |

Oh I saw this happen at poetry message board site (which shall remain nameless) where I used to post. It had a chat room which made things worse. The place got really messy and out of hand. Fortunately I was guided here by Cerenity . I did not realise that passions was on that slippy slope. In a large community sure egos and personalities will clash but we should attempt learn from the other person. This is after all about poetry and a forum for open intelligent thought. Without crusaders though, where would we be? Just because it's not "your" way to approach something doesn't mean it should be condemned. Different people fight what they believe to be injustices different ways. It may not be "your" way, but that doesn't make it any less valid, and doesn't make their intentions any less caring. History is full of crusaders, people who fought the best way they could, while others who held the same beliefs stayed at home complaining about it, or jumping on the bandwagon when it became large enough to be safe. These crusaders rarely had support in the beginning, and were often catechized for their methods, even their beliefs. Passion, I’ve been told, is what this is called. To condemn someone for fighting for their beliefs is arrogant, I think. (Not calling anyone arrogant, this is a generalized statement.) Disagreeing with them, sure, but how can you fault someone for what they believe? And for having the courage to try to do something about it? If that’s the case, then start first with the people who sit on their couches, complaining about the world without lifting a finger or voice to do something about it. I for one would much rather speak out, try, and be wrong, than to sit at home whining while doing nothing. Michael – In the spirit of that, I applaud you for this poem. You had the courage to speak you mind, which it seems is becoming rare these days.  Chris |

Let me clarify for one and all, I'm not on a crusade, I am tyring to find the poetry here without the tit for tat that has begun to plague this fine site. I simply found myself botherd that a few poems that were posted about love and friendship were ignored because of problems that had begun to arise with personalities and those that have nothing better to do than hurt others in a public forum. I only wanted to get back to what this fine site should be, the enrichment of poetry as a whole, and not some personnal whipping board. Crusades be damned people! Life is way to short to be cruel. As my Webster defines it.... Crusade... a vigorous campaign to promote a cause. Crusader... to take part in a crusade. There have been many a crusade and crusader in the past. Allot of these crusader's believed in their crusade and believed that it was just. Today some of these crusaders hold a very special place in our history.... Hitler... he was on a crusade to promote hate and exterminate anybody not in his race. Stalin... also had a crusade to spread communism throughout the world, they say he killed more people then Hitler. Joan of Arc she was crucified for her crusade. There are many more good and bad and I’m sure allot of us will agree that some of these crusaders we could have done without. I believe our poetry should be our crusade. The poetry that comes out of this site may change somebody’s life. It may help to remove the hate from a persons soul. It may bring a person back from the brink. On the other had some may not. Being that we are human, we react to this poetry and comments in a human fashion. This can be pretty unpredictable. Its a fine line and there is always a possibility to offend no matter how little we think we are doing. I'm not here to say what is right or wrong and or which crusade, but I sure know that we are all here for the poetry. And that has got to be a good thing. But non the less… if the cause be good and just…. Go for it. Parker |

What happened to the poetry? Well, friend, it's all right here! Just look and click and read and think... could I be much more clear? If we decided we would try each poet man at Passions who flirted with a gal or two... well, our trials would then be rationed! We all are human, don'tcha know, and many like to chat... or flirt or wink or ICQ -- and Hey! what's wrong with that? We're poetpeople, sure we are, our hearts are on our sleeves... but pointing fingers at the other is my GREAT pet peeve! Crusade, you say? Well possibly, I don't know all the facts. The thing I know is only this... mere rumors come in stacks! One rumor leads to one again, one gossip to another, and if you do like poetry... then, I say DO NOT BOTHER! Whoever is the first one here to throw a stone or blame, I hope that they are also first to hide behind the aim. Nobody knows the other's truth. No one can judge their neighbor. And tales of other people's lives give birth to hate, through labor. There's such a thing as "I Seek You" and I say that's the norm... and judging those who you don't know can cause a thunder storm! So, if you do like reading verse, please read, write, and reply to POETRY without inferring THIS or THAT or WHY!!!!!!! thank you for your poem... it inspired me!  *wink* < !signature--> ~ all you can really ever expect out of life is a good apology and some decent poetry ~ [This message has been edited by doreen peri (edited 09-01-2000).] |

I've been staying away from all this as much as I can and not but I must APPLAUD you on this because I am here to read the POETRY and you sir have earned my respect today with this. I came here to read and learn and try to grow in poetry and I will use my time here to just do that. I am thankful to have found some really good friends here as well and though we may never meet they all know I speak and I WRITE from my heart, but I will never put up a post or poem in spite or anger ONLY in OBVIOUS JEST!!! Thank you once again. |
