Waiting For The Day

I lay tangled in your arms
Hearing your strong heart beat
Pounding its steady rhythm in my ear
I feel your lips brush a soft kiss
Over the top of my head as
You whisper romantic words of love
I close my eyes so content, so lost
In this warming happiness we share.
I shiver as a soft chill crosses my body
Opening my eyes to find you gone
I close my eyes, longing to find
The dream that I left behind
Longing to find you by my side
Easing the ache that fills my heart
My eyes open slowly to the soft
Sound of the rustling wind and
I wonder when the dream
Will seep into reality, when I will
Be able to hold you close, have you near.
Until then I will have to settle
For the stolen moments we share
In my night time world of dreams
Waiting for the one wonderful day
When I open my eyes from slumber
And the dream first begins.
