Through the Night

Mother Earth, I beseech thee,
Grant me rest a while,
For my journey has been tiring
And I grow weaker by the mile.

Let me lie in a field of clover,
Soft, cool greenness under my head,
With the soft, velvet blackness of midnight sky
An eternal blanket for this bed.

Send a gentle rainfall
To soothe my aching soul,
Wrap me in the scent of roses,
Once more, make my tattered heart whole.

Bring a gentle zephyr
Softly whispering through the trees
To sing its song of beauty
And lull me into deepest sleep.

Hold me in your loving arms, Mother,
As I sleep through the night,
So that I may regain strength to resume my journey
At the break of dawn's soft golden light.

Terry*
Welcome back   and you have come home with
a beautiful poem...soothing, flowing and
absolutely amazing.  In the wake of each
stanza another wave of peace and beauty
came...elegant and graceful work my friend,
you've been missed!

Hello Terry,
I believe that this is the first time I have stopped by to read a poem that you have written. I'm glad that I did, it's very well done.
