In his hand, the quill held tight
As its blood dripped to the page
With squinted eyes in dim lit light
Came his midnight serenade
A tale of love, unfortunate loss
With all its bitter sweet strife
As true love bloomed
In a harvest moon
And ended by the knife

Passion poured from every line
Each verse burned to your soul
No other could have told the tale
His words were magical

And as the sun caressed that day
While the moon in idle, slept
He took his pages in his hands
And as he read: he wept

One last line before he closed
Some say, his finest verse

Unto dreams it is I waken
Fair love lay at my cot
In desperate screams
I come to fate: of all that I have not

A line, which the author wrote
For his departed love~ Shallot
