Yesterday, I rode my new pink bike all the way down Morris hill with my feet on the handlebars
as the wind blew madly through my hair.

Tonight, I cried when I burnt the cake I made especially for our first wedding anniversary.

Two days ago, I gave birth to our third child, a daughter you named Maggie.

In five minutes, my date will drive up in his father's station wagon,to take me to the senior prom. My father will tell me that I look beautiful.

Six months ago, you wanted a divorce. You said that we were growing apart.

Tomorrow, my great-grandchildren will help me celebrate my 75th birthday.

Next week at exactly midnight New Years Eve,
you will pull me close at a crowded party and kiss me. Then you’ll smile and ask for my phone number.

Today, my cries are frantic, as I peer with new eyes into blinding white lights, confused by the distorted, loud noises around me.
As I search along soft, familiar skin, I root instinctively toward the scent of milk, drinking deeply the elixir of life, determined to survive.
