Pleasure Cruise

Cast your line into the sea
And catch a silver dream for me
Let me love and let it be
Oh, fisher of the sea

I’m clinging to the edge of time
This moment that I know is mine
So let my spirit freely shine
Oh, Captain of the sea

Take me on a pleasure cruise
Hoist up the sails of whites and blues
And leave the course for me to choose
Oh, sailor of the sea

On Flying Dutchman wings we sail
And venture forth before the gale
My hours are short and limbs are frail
So take me out to sea

Turn starboard toward the sunset west
And drift upon the crimson crest
And let my heart be free to rest
And drift upon the sea

Whate’er the fate this sailing ship
I’ll always have upon my lip
Remembrance of this pleasure trip
Oh, Captain of the sea

Now cast your line into the sea
Whatever fate will be, will be
Please catch a silver dream for me
Oh, fisher of the sea

Liz...bittersweet, this one gave me tears. Thank you for such moving words.

Liz--this stanza ...wonderful...aren't we all just clinging to the edge of time...each moment is ours to fish for its worth.  Loved this poem, by the way....all of it.

What a pleasure it was to read these words...excellent writing, caught me up and made me care. I could feel the salt-water spray...

Just follow your own way
Don't give up and use the chance
To return to innocence.

I want to take a ride on this pleasure cruise.  I think I heard the seagulls when reading this one.  Beautiful!

There is a curse that perfection brings,
As I'm sure you've already learned.
With each new perfect poem you sing,
The need for more more hotly burns.

Liz - Deep waters do not come even close to describing you.  I love this poem, in all its perfection as I've loved all your words.

Sudhir, Thank you, dear poet, May you catch a silver dream

Claire, Thanks for the tears

Martie, Glad you liked this one. You are right about clinging to the edge of time, but you don't think that way when you're young. Thanks

Deb, Thank you

sonjes, Thank you for the kind remarks, I'm glad you liked it

Enigma, You don't want to go on the Flying Dutcman, do you? It might be your last voyage. It's not like a Carnival cruise, perhaps more like a spiritual cruise. Thanks

Michael, Glad you could relate, as this could be interpreted in many ways. Thank you

AVANTI, I love the word "genius". No one has ever used it with regard to me or my work, so I'll take the compliment and run, and thank you so very much

LngJhn,Thanks for the little verse, of course you know the Flying Dutchman was already a curse, so I guess you won't get any more poems since I was on board. Thank you, dear, for all your kind compliments.

Liz
