We Are One

Touch tapestry, this map of me
your palms spread to the seas
What distance bid this journey's breath
that quickens by degrees?

Within a fleeting moment's kiss
your soul now of my own
Your skin absorbed within my skin
We move and we are one

And thus as one will we abide
each night and of the day
Each water's edge we gaze upon
The songs, the words we pray

As ages roll, we'll not recall
when we encased two lives
When separate steps our footfalls lay
and separate were our eyes

My heart will fill and flow your tears
upon these pillows' slips
'Til brutal breath of all farewells
drain out our dying lips

Claire~

Truly a beauteous phrase you turn.
Lusciously dipped in light melancholy.

Michael, I know you think this is sad, but my intention was to express more than sadness ... a total and complete devotion of one to another and the sensation of living fully within the being of that person. I reread it again just this morning, though, and you're right...there is a melancholia about it. I'm glad you think enough of my work to really examine it, my friend. Thank you.

Marge, thank you so much for the "luscious" and the "beauteous"... two perfectly sweet words to start (or restart, as it were) my morning.

Liz, and more sweet words from you... I am floating!...thank you sincerely, my friend.

If I accomplish nothing else before I die -
I could ask for nothing I'd treasure more
Than to share a love such as you've described
There is absolutely nothing I would not give
For this God I do emplore

Quite aside from the sentiment - I think I've said enough on that - The writing is absolutely beautiful from the tapistry map
to the brutal death of dying lips

Out of a possible 5 *'s - I'd give this 10!

This is truly magnificent, and tender, but the word that keeps coming to mind is bittersweet.  It carries the joy of love and the sorrow of endings.
               Bravo!!!

Sven, thank you. I'm glad to know something that I have written has touched you in this way.

Wilfred, your note was so nice...thank you for letting me know how much you enjoyed this piece. I think someday I may publish a book just of love poems, and encouragement like yours helps me to feel that I should.

Coco, I will take your speechlessness as a lovely compliment, and I thank you, in earnest, for that.

Mark, I often re~read poetry too. That you re~read mine gives me such pleasure. Thank you for letting me know this!

Jenn, thank you for your kind words. It touches me that this  touched you. (did I say that right??)

Sunny, yes...I was thinking "bittersweet" when I wrote it, but then, I think that a lot.   Thanks for letting me know you enjoyed reading.
