He's an ordinary hampster,
  with an ordinary name.
He lives an ordinary life,
each day is quite teh same.
In fact, there are not many things
  that I can now reveal
Except when Harry gets the urge
  to climb inside his wheel.
Inside his wheel, he runs and runs,
then round and round it goes.
And when it stops, he doesn't move.
  Exhaustion, I suppose.
It makes me stop and see myself
  and how I often feel.
Like I'm the one who's in his cage,
  and running in the wheel.
It's not a very pleasent thought,
its one that makes me frown.
The message that it tells me is...
  "It's alright, Krissy. Slow down!"
Slow down and taste the bubble gum,
slow down and just get real.
Don't be a hampster in a cage,
  say NO to Harry's wheel!!

Dedicated to my best friend, Casey. This is her favorite poem that I've written. I LOVE YOU, MY SISTA!!!

I run, I fall. I walk, I sometimes crawl. I give, I take. I bend and yet somehow I break

Lil One - This is a great use of metaphor - and it's written very well - it flows smoothly, both in verse and subject.  I can hardly believe it slid away from page one so quietly.  Back to the top it goes.

ya know...I didn't realize there were two of you...now I don't know which one's which...one's uppercase and the other's lowercase AND you're both cheerleaders!!  How am I going to remember who's who?????

I'll just remember that you're the one who refuses to run around in circles, with no place to go...but trying hard to get there...enjoyed the poem too, by the way.

Don't care what people say
Just follow your own way
Don't give up and use the chance
To return to innocence.

I drive by the Y with some regularity -they've a hugh picture window on the highway
where those on treadmills and stationary bikes can look down and we in cars can look up. I have thought many times - are they not like hampsters? --or are the hampsters like them...? well done lil one
