The Whole of Time

I've watched the skies at night fill up with stars and all their glow.
Stood wondering why and whence they came to put on such a show.
When hearing sounds of birdlike song, from robins, cardinals red,
my eyes seek glass to view their dance and watch them in their stead.

Each night I pick one evening star to rest my eyes upon.
Make wishes as it flickers, flares in hopes that come the dawn,
when I awake my dreams and thoughts are heard upon a breeze,
delighting me, releasing sad, to allow my mind to ease.

I've walked the paths along the tracks, through marshes, meadows too,
in deepened snows (I love the most) in night or morning's dew.
Yet all alone, with thoughts of "once upon a time" you see,
the loving's gone and all that's left is an empty memory.

Tomorrow's hope and with it's dawn, my heart will feel a tug,
Remembering the moments each, when arms around would hug.
To hear the pounding, rhythmic sounds against, when holding near
your sweetest kiss of lips that touch, your heart hugs, I still hear.

I'll hold onto those tugging thoughts and dream kiss you each night,
until the sun begins ascent to shine upon me, light.
The future is the whole of time, laid 'fore me, splayed in gold
Tomorrow's new will walk this path, once again, in lover's hold.

Hi Maureen...
I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed reading this beautiful poem!
I like the way the last line brings it to a close, and the wording is wonderful.......

Today is a gift....
That is why they call it
'the Present'!

Sunny1

this was a doubly inspired poem...the first three stanzas I wrote a few months back..no  title... was a reponse to another's poem (I often enjoy responding in poetry) and Mark B. left me a response under my thought kisses that heart hugs are nice, too..and  inspired me to use heart hugs..which I added in the remaining two verses...I am glad I did..I always wanted to add more to this one...thank you for enjoying

Maureen

You write such beautiful music in your words.  Hold on to those memories  - they keep you warm on a cold night.
