Cacophany of random thought
be still I thee command .
A jury for the moment bought
at cost of tremored hand .
Confusion of a single voice
for now is much preferred ,
and lends illusion of a choice
not found in myriad words .
A moments silence purchased dear
your strident tones to quell ,
may draw me close to what I fear
shall be another hell .
Though faint they still assail of me
to mock these words denial ,
for it is I and never thee
that stands again on trial .
Arrest these self condemning doubts
defend me for these hours .
Attested to by countenence
instilled or spirit's power .
For now I shall accredit thee
with but slight influence.
A statement whose validity
I've tried at my expense .
The multitude at last obey
their fiery tongues ensconced
too soon begins another day
'ere I'll be judged a'nonce .

Doc, I read poetry aloud, for the most part, and this piece of writing sounds superb. The meter, the subtle assonance, the brilliant discourse...it's quite lovely. Thank you.

Claire and Balladeer,
To give credit where it's due , this piece would have been beyond my means , had I not learned so much from the talented bunch on this site . My thanks to you and all .

This is just pure excellence...in awe of the flow, the consistant and evolving thought...incredible.  scrumptious phrasing too...thank you...may I keep this one?  smile.  The message of this hit home.
