Drummers of a Different Beat

It was a strange chaotic time
Misunderstood in youthful prime
As all around events unfold
Created by the young and bold

They spoke non-violence to us
And boycotted the public bus
And in the day to freedom’s beat
They marched in silence in the street

Insanity dwelled evermore
Just forty miles off our shore
And men in camouflage were shown
Realities far from their home

The flower children gathered round
To hear the psychedelic sound
Of drummers of a different beat
Who never stopped til death’s defeat

Within the midst of trouble’s brew
I met and fell in love with you
But times would separate the two
By reasons that we never knew

Now after all these years gone by
I often stop and wonder why
Events can alter life so much
By timing’s simple fateful touch

Liz-Your depth in beauty and vision allows you to bring to us the most superb creations.  I am amazed and remain in awe as to where your inspiration and talent meet.  As they say timing is everything. If only we had control over All the things that affect time.  Superb as I have said.

A masterful poem...

great stuff here...

Insanity dwelled evermore

Another wonderful lead in by you...there's the hand of fate reaching in again...ya know, sometimes I wish it would leave well enough alone.
Now after all these years gone by
I often stop and wonder why
Events can alter life so much
By timing’s simple fateful touch

These words say it all...extremely well penned piece.

Don't care what people say
Just follow your own way
Don't give up and use the chance
To return to innocence.

Beautiful flow and sentiments Liz.  I love the questions you ponder ... I wish I did have an answer to your final question though, because it would answer so many of mine as well, sigh ...    Lovely poem Elizabeth!

Best wishes,
/Kit
