       Standing on the stage...looking out
                 on blurry faces...
Wondering how she ever came to be here,
                  in the light...
       Nothing ever changes, same conditions,
                 different places...
Life has dealt a strange hand to the
              Daughter of the Night...

Many years ago, her normal life had held
                    her prisoner...
Fate and luck disrupted that and drove
                    it all away...
Many tears ago, she became a better
                    listener...
To the music of her soul that deep within
                    her plays...

       She's a Daughter of the Night...and fate
              has dealt it's final hand...
Captured in the light, up on that barroom
                stage she'll stand...
Pouring out her heart to all who listen,
                     all who see...
A Daughter of the Night, who looks
                remarkably like me!

It really doesn't matter if she moves
                from place to place...
She's was born a gypsy...you can see it
                     in her face...
She'll be the first to tell you that it's
                 not an easy load...
Her life is packed in boxes that keep
                movin' down the road...

Her dreams still keep her going...
             hidden deep within her mind...
She lives each day still hoping that
by fate and luck she'll find...
A willing ear that really hears the songs
                  her fingers make...
And every night becomes another chance
                 for her big break...

       She's a Daughter of the Night...and now
               she knows and understands...
It's meant for her to sing her songs across
                this lonesome land...
A gypsy in her right....Out on the road
                just being free...
A Daughter of the Night......who looks
                    remarkably
                      like
                       Me!

  Sunshine.....
That was my favorite thought also. It came from deep soul-searching. Thank you, my friend, for all you've said to me......at times when I needed it most.

Sunny, this does sound like a lovely song, and I hope you sing it someday. I am a gypsy too, unfortunately, I don't have that talent, with which to move with.
Loved this.

Hi Sandra...

Ahhhh....now I know we are sisters....all gypsies belong to the same family!!  And you DO have the talent...you write with a magic flare that is so natural to you!  Only a gypsy can do that, sis!!
I'm glad you like this...it will soon have a melody to go along with it.

Oh my goodness Sunny,
A story, perhaps a true one as I read. I bet you are something on that stage. Follow your dream Sunny, it will happen. Best to you.

Thank you, and it's good to see you here!  The stage is my home, where I feel most alive, where I run to escape into my dream.  The story is true, and it's only the beginning of my dream!!

Sunny1 I'm sitting here reading your poem and listening to mediaeval music, and you poem matches it's heartbeat. Lovely, lovely work.
When you sing it, know that I will be listening for the echo on the breeze and shouting. Bravo.
