(very slight revision of a 6/98 poem)

You are planted in my heart
And your words are the nourishment
Your laugh the fertilizer
And so you've taken root
And so you grow
Stronger, larger than life
Deeply rooted.
No garden I have tended
No rose I have groomed
Has grown so beautiful in my eyes
Your presence has invited
Birds and their songs
(Music to my soul)
Butterflies of such color
(In your stimulating conversation)

So even when there is no rain
Even when the bugs of doubt attack
Your quiet strength persists

And so I nurture, the way you nurtured me
Thus you spread like foliage
And like a gorgeous hedge
You shield my mind from all the world's cares
So there's no one but you
And I love you

So let us play in this garden
Let us rise to the exotic sensations
Let us celebrate the unity of feelings
We share
With each new day

Hand in hand
We can find the joy in life
We've been so long denied
Free - and as God made us
No place unexplored
Nothing to hide

Will, this is superb, the use of the garden to describe your love, a perfect metaphor. I love romantic poetry, as you do.

Bill--This walk in your garden is so sweetly perfumed with your loving tender...that it is beautiful!

A garden nurtured from the heart will never taste the bitterness of deceipt in drought.

Lovely creation here and you are well on your way.  Keep it up but always take time to nurture your garden at home.

Mark - I appreciate your kind words AND your wise words - I'd love to give you the loan of my mocassins for a while - - I suspect you'd be even wiser   - sincerely - I thank you and I do nurture at home more than you might imagine - - there are forces present that impact beuond our control.

Wilfred, what an exhilirative display of an emotion~filled, trusting, open love for another. To liken your love to a luxuriant garden, comforting and yet stimulating to the senses...just beautiful. I find your writing most enjoyable.
