RESTORATION OF THE HEART
by Linda Munday

Canvas painted black and white,
Sat on the dusty floor.
Valueless or so it seemed,
With pride of place no more.

Musty in a darkened room,
Encased in spider’s net.
Crooked frame held no appeal,
A relic to forget.

Sunlight held the dusty motes,
A light shone through the dark.
Eyes beheld a precious work,
Beneath the dirty marks.

Brushed with love the dust came off,
Revealed a masterpiece.
Gentle strokes of loving hands,
Bright colours now released.

Love restored this wounded heart,
Its true worth was revealed.
Lifted to its rightful place,
‘Cause loving touch had healed.

Linda,

I cannot believe this poem has languished
here without any comments!  This a wonderful use of metaphor.  Absolutely incredible - you held it together so firmly, and then you really killed me with the last verse.  I can't say enough about how splendid this poem is.  I love it.

I am with LJA on this....the ending is one of sheer delight but for me it is both the last and second to last verses that I really love.  The whole piece actually.  Beautiful>

extremely well-written piece of work!
The whole poem sang to me...lovely!

Don't care what people say
Just follow your own way
Don't give up and use the chance
To return to innocence.

Linda~

Oh, what a beauty you created.
It tiptoes across the page
in metaphoric splendor ...
Wonderfully done !
