Awakening

As tree lets go
the crimson leaf
release I must,
this gasping grief
and draw a breath,
refreshed, of light
that I may live
past dark of night

And fill my mind
and still my heart
and know the touch
and feel the part
of season's stir
upon this earth
the lullaby
of beauty's birth.

Claire,

The only way I can describe this one is painfully beautiful....

Claire,
       just wonderful. . . the lines, the form. . . just everything. . .

Simply exquisite. . .

Claire~
A glitch in the system threw this one
to the back pages ....
I'm so pleased to have found it ...

Tenderly felt melancholy.
You do it so well.

Yes, the "stirring of the earth" is an awakening, and all the splendors of nature so calming to the mind and spirit
Lovely, lovely poem

I've really gotta thank Marge for pulling this one back from the abyss.  Darn that glitch!  But, it came back, and I was able to read and reel from the impact your words had on me....astounding work of craft!

Sudhir, you are, indeed, the first, my friend, and how I appreciate your enthusiasm. Thank you, sincerely.

Michael, thank you. I know you understand my motivation here, and I am grateful to you, for everything.

Kit, thank you so much. You know, this piece actually did have a mind of its own as I wrote it, it seems. I merely put the words to paper.

Sven, my friend, I thank you for ... just everything.

Miss Marge, thank you for finding me!    So glad to know you enjoyed this little verse.

Liz, your response is lovely...and oh so true.. the earth has its own rhythmic respiration, to be sure. Thank you, my friend.

Alicat, reading and reeling? Sorry 'bout that! Thank you for letting me know you liked this, and yes, how nice of Marge to notice it.

O' muse afar, dark orchid of the night...
such beauty flows from forth thy sorrow's bite.
