Although our paths may never cross again
This side of heaven I’ll remember when
You graced my life with friendship’s harmony;
You’ll always be a lovely memory.

Although the roads we travel separate
No longer one, no one can confiscate
The joy we’ve shared forever to remain
Within the heart to sing its sweet refrain.

Although we’ll journey highways far apart
Each thought of you shall tenderly impart
The loveliest bouquet of roses fair
Rare fragrant dew-kissed blooms beyond compare.

Although the streets we tread lead different ways,
Might never meet again for all our days,
In passing think of me from time to time
Recalling fondly friendship’s lilting rhyme.

Denise~
You pluck the strings of friendship
and sing your own sweet songs.

'Recalling fondly friendship’s lilting rhyme.'

Just a very, very pleasant serenity surrounds this piece.
Love ya'

Denise, I shall keep this poem and read it over and over again, as changes occur and those special people go in and out of my life.  So very beautiful.  Bonnie

Thank you, Marge,Serenity, Eloise, Claire and Bonnie for reading and for your lovely replies! I'm glad it touched you! I wrote part of this in a good-bye card for a girl in our office who was 'temping' for the summer. She's a teacher who is going back to school next week. A wonderful person, one of many in my life, whom I won't have the pleasure of ever seeing again, most likely. When I got home from work, I added a few more lines....I wish I had the entire poem to give to her...but that's how my writing is....it's usually not there when I need it the most! LOL Thanks again!

Denise - I'm hoping you wrote this for me and not that scalawag Balladeer!!

I like the way you left this poem open for friends as well as lovers.  Your words say that friends are forever, wherever they may be.  What an uplifting message of hope!

Hi Denise,

So beautiful, loosing a friend pulls the heart strings out of shape and so this poem is a gift and a thing by which to heal the heart, just lovely Denise.

Love, Cerenity

Denise the beauty runs deep in this one!
After reading your reply, didn't ya get her address or something? You could always get it from work right? She had to put one on an application. Then you could send her the entire poem!

It's way to beautiful not to my friend!
~hugs~ Miss ya

Ah, Denise,
this is a deep ocean filled waters of beauty,
with the surreal calm of eventide at sunset.

Truly enjoyed,

As always with poetry there is a time when the reader will take a poem and see themselves in it, their situation, and in a way they make the poem their own. I hope that you do not mind me making this poem my own. A beautifully written poem, so much I can relate to from my own view point. Thank you.

You have expressed my feelings about people I have known in the past and never saw again, yet they still cross my mind. This is a wonderful poem for all people all ages.
So beautifully written

Sorry for taking so long to thank you all. I was away for the weekend babysitting for Christian. Thank you, EagleOne, Kit, Mike, Diane, Cerenity, Rebecca, Sudhir, Brian, Elizabeth and Maree for reading and for such lovely replies! I'm glad it touched you!

Thanks, Rebecca, I'll check into that. Hopefully they will give it to me. I don't know what their policy is on confidentiality issues...maybe they can call her and get her permission if confidentiality is an issue. Miss you too!
