Reflections of a face

Pondering thoughts
intriguing face
moon in light phase --
precariously caught
between slip knots -
tied yet unbound,
free but shackled
weak, seemingly strong
stilled, yet on the run
batting eyelids
to bat out hellish
nightmares --
wildfires -
of yesterday's love
of today's lonely
rear-view mirror
of a favourite
gravy train.

Discriminating thoughts
of life and after-life -
selfish yet selfless,
shrewd yet kind,
caring but unequal,
loving the poor
more than the rich
in a class divide,
fears struggle --
to be calmed,
serpentine queues -
irrational rush
faithless religion;
loveless love,
careless care,
hopeless hope,
faceless face,
fact-less fact,
demystifying truth,
desperate justice --
both eyes blind,
literate society
reads, writes, but
never listens to
other people's
sad sounds.

Returning to
self, in the
selfish way
still thinking,
static in motion,
flooding emotions
panicky caution
human in relation
wild yet tamed
desires hidden in
deep dark caves
wanting love,
yearning needs,
craving yearns,
lost in crave.

Hush, the thoughts
seem to speak
in a shrouded
human enclave.

Sudhir, it's so hard to choose---but this may well be my favorite from you--so far...you continue to impress, and amaze me with the depth of your most profound pen...I applaud, mightily.

Glad to see you reflecting upon yourself, Sudhir... it's fun to find all those dichotomies, eh? Nice job!
