i. Every moment is a new poem waiting to be explored, lifted hands-free, touched, tested, prayed upon last, fasted, lashed, reformed, remade, reborn. Each poem is you. Each breath of cadence and rhythm's flow is me saying "That's how it goes." ii. Don't be bored. Let every moment be a party in your head, so imagination has a place to give life. Your eyes are faraway clear. Fill them with what delights you. I'm talking to you, girl. Move away from what hurts And deepen your pain in happiness' weight. iii. She asked me if it's too late. -Well, do you believe in fate? That's what I hate. - Great. What about fate? -Nevermind. She called me unkind. I wanted to rewind my mind So the conversation wouldn't unbind In stones and rinds. She was curt. She wanted to flirt. She tugged at her skirt. She pulled at my shirt. She acted too hurt. I pushed away her hand. She wanted to make a stand. I went over to her baby grand, Imagined what it would be, as I played, To be. I lowered myself to the keys and wept. The ivory was wet and shiny, my fingers trembled, Her hands in my hair and I moved the notes In gentle, broken formations; legato. I asked her if she believed in fate. She said that was my mistake. |
