Other Than The Night
~*Marge Tindal~

Somewhere other than the night,
I want to catch your smile.
Watch the sunlight stroke your face,
beaming all the while.

Upon the hill, the daffodil
swaying in the breeze,
calls to me to play among
the gentleness of your tease.

The light of day, in soft array,
feathered on your cheek,
causes me to catch a sigh
as I try to speak.

To hear your laughter booming,
knowing I may be the cause,
gives me reason to beckon
the very sound of it's applause.

Cavorting merrily through the meadow
like the butterfly on wing,
sipping of the very nectar
that being with you brings.

Somewhere other than the night,
you set my heart aglow.

~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~

This was wonderful my friend.  Somewhere other than the night . . . we all need more than the night to sustain us.  Beautiful piece of poetry you.

"sipping of the very nectar
that being with you brings."

Miss Marge, you have stolen my heart with this poem, this line, in particular. Being in the presence of one's love is just like this, isn't it? (or at least, so I've been told!)

Grateful to you for sharing your treasure with us, my friend.

Marge - What a truly NEAT poem - it reflects the reader's mood and situation in life so well - On the surface, it seems to poem is light-hearted and joyful for the love the author feels for the subject - on another level, it seems the author only receives the subject's attentions at night, when they are intimate, and the author needs so much more than that.  This is a wonderful poem for its ability to change its colors so subtly.  Great job, Marge!

Refreshingly beautiful piece, Marge.  Took me right outside on a warm spring day.  The last 4-line stanza was my favorite. Very picturesque. Enjoyed it.
