I am old, hundered an tirty-tree
An ma beard hangs low right to ma knees
Hidin ma private privates, y'see?

An ah lives up here on dis mountaintop
Wit ma rice bowl an...an ma chamberpot
Wit pilgrims seekin philosophal rot

'Why is orange?' 'Why for green?'
'Does a tree falling make a sound unseen?'
'What meant the jello in my dream?'

So's ah feeds dem some philosophal hash
Payment is rice; ah don't eats cash
An while you're here, take out da trash

When they've gone, ah thinks of me wife
On da other mountaintop sharpenin her knife
Hmmm...seems we've been old most of our life

For her da cut-n-thrust of debate
Ma philosophism's more sedate
...Ah see her supplicant has lost his pate

We sits up here in da fresh, free air
Me in ma beard, she in her hair
Come fer a visit, if'n ya dare

Absolutely delightful...I loved the wiseacre humour here! I could just hear the voice of the ole scudder recitin' it.

PdV: NEVER!!!  Coffee is my friend, who loves me like noone else can...inside and out.

Meadowmuse: Thanky ma'am.  Gotta big smile knowing that old coot's voice came through loud and clear.

Denise: How about a compromise?  I'll have him pull on a kilt, but that lady of his is not one I care to debate about knife-wielding...

This was so clever...so humorous...so believable!!! Most entertaining poem...

Don't care what people say
Just follow your own way
Don't give up and use the chance
To return to innocence.
