The tables were all full
every croupier's mind whirling
working out the odds
black vs red
Odd vs even
smile: non-extistent

that was simply good behaviour
stunning, they had to be
nails curved to perfection
bodied honed like angles
stockings on the seam and upwards

"place your bets: gentlemen"

with a flick of the third finger
the silver ball went spinning
as it slowed it hopped over 19
landed on black and jumped into red
"final bets gentlemen, please"

Cover arrives
spread palms to table
no cards up my sleeve
someone winks as they leave

Most bets taken have been lost
housekeeping has been retrieved
money is your hand in pocket
lots of faces sad, relieved

The winner holds his smile till last
he never bet a dime
he never had to
his heart was always worth
every moment of my time.....

Ah, you romantic little ball spinner, you Rainbow girl!

Place your bet
Let's play roulette
See how lucky
You can get.
Don't fret
There's no regret
Ball still spins
You ain't lost yet.
No sweat
You paid your debt
Gambling on
The internet...
