To this man I vowed, "Till death do us part",
I gave him my soul, I gave him my heart.
Do as you wish, but please be kind,
For a woman like this isn't easy to find.
Just as I thought things were going my way,
Very few words did he have to say.
With that piece of paper, it all disappeared,
These mishaps occurring were what I had feared.
Grasping at straws, trying at best,
Failing in sorrow now I confessed.
This marriage was over long before,
For the wife he loved, he didn't adore.
Never attention, not a spark would arise,
He looked at me with no gleam in his eyes.
Try as I might, I couldn't go on,
It was time to face up, the love was gone.
And as I was leaving, I took one last look,
A chapter was closing of this short-lived book.
So, grasping at straws and trying at best,
Failing in sorrow I now confessed.

It takes love to make a marriage work, that's for sure. A one way relationship can only last so long. Very well expressed.

another poem mired deep in sadness...yet with a twinkle of hope that strength can carry through...your words touched my soul.

Don't care what people say
Just follow your own way
Don't give up and use the chance
To return to innocence.

I went thru something similar. Tried for over a decade to make things work, but alas my efforts were a waste of time. All one-sided, ya know?  I feel for you, yet I know from experience that writing how you feel is a wonderful means of working thru the pain.  Keep it up.

*hugs*
