Up the spiral staircase drifts a ghost
                 within the night...
She is only visible within the full
                   moon's light...
Shadows never cast as she invades the
                   secret rooms..
Upward, ever upward, she seeks magic
                   in the moon...

She has been the haunter in this long-
                   forsaken house...
       No other occupant resides..not man,
                nor beast, nor mouse...
She is quite at home, on lonliness she
                  seems to thrive...
It feeds her one desire, and makes her
                 feel almost alive...

But, she is not alive, and ne'er will
                get a chance to be...
A century ago she threw herself into
                     the sea...
On ragged rocks, above the waves,
             she cried her last goodbye....
And now her spirit walks within the
                castle walls up high...

She had loved the man, and he, in turn,
                 had loved the sea...
He had always told her that his wife
                  she'd never be...
And no ammount of magic spells could
              break the deathly grip...
The night the sea destroyed his life,
            and claimed his broken ship...

They say that on a full moon, just
             before the light of day...
That you can hear, inside the walls,
            some haunting music play...
And on the highest balcony, a young
               girl gives her hand...
To dance within her Sailor's arms..
and by his side to stand...

This story is of true love, told
to me when I was small...
I know someday that I will pay a
              visit to those walls...
To see the spirit of the girl who
             found her love at last...
To be a silent witness, to a
            ~~Saga from the Past~~

Hi Sunny,

How this wonderful piece of work could make it to the second page without a single response is beyond me.  You're going back to page one, my friend.  This is too lovely to be missed.

Sunny, this is so beautiful. I love those stories. Ever hear the one about the Hotel Del Coronado? You write this with such feeling, I had chills on my arms as I read. Awesome.

Oh, Michael.....thank you for the boost!!!! I loved writing this one...it's been 'haunting' me for some time now, even in my dreams. I think my muse is a mystic. Thank you so, and I'm glad you enjoyed this one, too, my good friend......

Hi Sandra....
This is supposed to be a true story, told to me by my grandmother, and passed down to her by hers. It is from Scotland, one of the castles there. Someday I will go see for myself!!  Thank you for reading and I hope your goosebumps go away!!

Hi Mike...
I agree, and it should be read while listening to some 'haunting melodies' in the background, by the light of a fire, with a companion!! You take the rest from there!!  Thank you, also!!

Hi Sunny...I don't think this is about a ghost at all. I think it has to do with you, the inner you.

Hi Sunny,
A haunting tale you weave, of the ghost! Another gem you have written, they keep coming, and I am amazed at your talent.

Hi RobertB...
You are very intuitive, my friend!!  When I wrote this, I did feel as if I had lived this tale.....in another time.
I'm glad you stopped by....thank you!

Hi Bill...
Thank you once again.....I am always happy to have you drop in for a visit!

Hi Didi....
Yes, I suppose it is a bit sad, but love stories don't always end happily.
Thank you for reading my saga!!
