Increments of time
passing ever so slowly

As I gaze in frustration
at the clock before me

The pen in my hand
seemingly empty

Lacking the ability,
to articulate clearly

Inspired by anticipation
crippled by haste

My pointless words
transform time into waste

For each worthless phrase
each word I spell

Lay dead on this page
where my expectations fell

Originally written about "writer's block" I posted "The Author" as a tribute to my lost poetry.  For the second time in my life, one of my favorites mysteriously disappears...  I remember just enough of it to know that I could never recreate it.

Please tell me I'm not the only unorganized person who loses these things!!

It is an unwritten law of the land...
your best poetry always comes to you when a computer or pen is not at hand... or is on a used napkin you have no idea where it is and is probably in the trash.
enjoyed your poem about losing your poem...

hehe....I can lose something like that in the space of seconds. My mind goes so fast sometimes that by the time I realize something is a good line or idea that I can work with, I've gone on to so many other things I can't find my way back to it! (I also hide my own Easter eggs)

Jaimie,

The past 3 days have been exactly like that for me...I couldn't produce anything until today.  Very frustrating.  Great post, my friend, and very well said.

Take care,

Michael

I think this used to happen to me quite a bit when I was younger, not only in writing prose or poetry, but in music as well....

Any human endeavor has peaks, valleys, and plateaus -- even the most basic things like physical condition

I think the reason it doesn't happen to me now is that I recognize a rythm in life that I couldn't hear back then, when I thought I had to write, had to keep getting better at everything....

I think my favorite part of being thirty-through is I now know I don't have to do anything -- and only do as I am inspired to...

Nice ode to a common theme Lady6-- and sorry you lost your poems..< !signature-->
