New Rose

         dew filled petals sing
with morning kisses of love
as new rose blossoms

Raccoon

radiant eyes dance
upon moonlit quivers gold
raccoon is prowling

Waterfall

cascading waters
of thunderous roar flowing
spiraling in mass

Dolphins

dancing fins of grey
breaching depths of ocean respite
in dolphin delight

Butterfly kisses

butterfly kisses
upon nectar given grace
dances wildly on

MarkB~
See what staying after class did for you !

Everything you do amazes me, Cowboy !

Pretty gosh-darned clever .....
I think they call it 'sand-bagging' !

I personally like the Racoon ...
sort of suits your bandit nature !
LOL !
Love ya' for your gusto !

Mark, I love all of these. But if you look at the original haikus on the web, they usually have a break or twist, usually at the beginning of the third line, and "Racoon" does exactly that. Maybe I'm wrong on this, but I think thats what they say about Japanese Haiku. But there are many forms,These are all very lovely indeed

Mark loved your Haiku's
but I'm cross that you beat me to kitten reply to Long John.
I would have written

kitten for your birth
ferocious, bundle of fur
will leak on carpet
Be well

Hey Mark... that's like eat a pizza and then buy the whole pizza factory ... LOL ... Haiku has really got to you... and you have got to Haiku as well...

Given a choice, you very well know I will choose the waterfall... but give me another and I will choose them all... before you find out they will be gone... all so wonderfully done...

regards,
sudhir

Lovely work!  Think, my fave here is the Racoon one because I was taught the traditional Haiku, where there is a surprise in the last line.

Mark
I liked them all as did everyone else who responded.  I especially liked the ones about the "Waterfall" & "Dolphins."

My FAV is butterfly kisses.......You know, that is pretty cruel asking us to pick a fav,   as they are all good.....The racoon one was great also.
