I will always remember
The day that we first met
It was almost fifteen years ago
In stone it was set
The month was August
Outside it was cold and wet

I will always remember
The look upon your face
That first time our eyes met
At our special place
When it was time to go
You left without a trace

I will always remember
How easily I gave my heart
You knew it was only yours
Right from the very start
In your heart's depths
I found the missing part

I will always remember
Us together that first time
Under the moon and stars
Together we reached our prime
The love that we made
Was nothing less than devine

I will always remember
The day that we were wed
Then our passion glowed
An intense dark red
Visions of our future
Swam in my head

I will always remember
The way things were
Poetry you wrote for me
Made my heart stir
Your all encompassing love
Was an amazing cure

I will always remember
The good times we shared
I hope you know
That I always cared
I loved you more
Than anyone ever dared

I will always remember
When you walked out the door
A piece of my heart
From the whole tore
The pain that I felt
Scarred me forevermore

LoneWolf~

It's okay to hurt.
It's okay to cry.
It's okay to remember,
when one says goodbye.
But it also important
to remember that you
will go on to find another
who will love you, true.

It never seems that way when you're
going through it ... but it will come.

Keep the good memories ...
and watch for the hope that tomorrow holds.
*Hugs*

I can't believe this    As I was reading I was saying to myself I hope it doesn't turn out that he or she walks out.  Then I read the last stanza    This is sooooo emotional and it's very innocent these lines, there is a purity to these lines which I can not explain but I enjoyed this sad piece.  It is beautifully written.

"my love is my motivation
my love is my inspiration
perception of this poem
is your interpretation"

It's just so amazing what one goes through in a relationship. I think it is the most wonderful yet the hardest job that you can take on in a lifetime. I can feel the depth of your reflections here as they pour from the heart. When a poet writes like this and another poet can see, hear, and feel the emotional pain suffered, then the poet writing has done a marvelous job!
Like Jeffery mentioned, faith in yourself is so important and some where along the line drop the gaurd and gamble again...human nature you know...

You must continue. . . you cannot let your life stop just because this has happened. . .  seeing the other comments here, it would seem that others agree.

Beautiful image, sad ending all at the same time.  Lessons learned is all we can think of things like this as... {{{HUGZ}}}  Great job.

Jenn,
Just got back from vacation and went looking around.  Ran across your name a few pages in and knew I had to read.  My heart started to sink about half way through when I realized where it was heading.  This is so sad, so very heart breaking that life should seem to turn for the worse.  As feeble as it may sound, love does come in many forms, from many people.  Someone as genuine as yourself deserves love of that magnitude in return.  I hope that if it is not already found, that life will smile upon you soon and show you new love, perhaps even brighter than before.
Beautiful poem, Jenn.  Remember to keep smiling.

Trev.
