Civilization's not for me Paying high exorbitant rent Before it's earned, my money's spent I think I'll go live in that tree Civilization's not for me Hoodlums on the corner chill Between the times they loot and kill I think I'll barricade that tree Civilization's not for me The cops perform another bust Housing projects turn to rust I think I'll stay inside that tree Civilization's not for me I grow the food I wish to eat Life is simple, tidy and neat In my new home inside my tree Civilization's not for me Here there is no Internet No coffee, danish or cigarette P'raps civilization IS for me Alicat As I sit here dimly thinking Watching modem lights a-blinking Churning out poetic hash.
