The band starts up 'neath glow'ring sky
by heart I know the words
They shun the light and with dischord
clear thought becomes obscured
The will is swayed as jostled leaf
in cruel temptations breeze
A fool's lament in bas relief
as stark as barren trees

About me dance the myriad
to music none may hear
Atonal in it's resonance
yet pleasing to the ear
It whispers long sought promises
that cater to my needs
In tongue befitting dark chaos
it seeks to plant a seed

And so begins a new cycle
that feeds upon the last
and dooms me to repeat the same
mistakes made in the past
Be ever vigilant my friends
and careful how you choose
Lest you would join me in this dance

Signed, " One Who Wears The Shoes "

Oh, I truly enjoyed this... "And so begins a new cycle that feeds upon the last and dooms me to repeat the same mistakes made in the past" is outstanding.   Each line took me heading towards another direction.

How many times I have worn those dancing shoes!  Very enjoyable read on a very familiar subject!

Today is a gift....
That is why they call it
'the Present'!

L Six,
One of my darker pieces , usually I stay on the lighter side . Glad you liked it though .

too many great lines to quote... if i quoted all the good lines, i'd quote the entire piece...

this one stands out:
"The will is swayed as jostled leaf
in cruel temptations breeze
A fool's lament in bas relief
as stark as barren trees"

wonderful wonderful wonderful, my friend... you are one fine dancing versemaker... all the syllables, all the verbiage, every word in perfect place... fabulous!

~ all you can really ever expect out of life is a good apology and some decent poetry ~

DrMoose~
Captured me in the trance of the dance ...

'The will is swayed as jostled leaf
in cruel temptations breeze
A fool's lament in bas relief
as stark as barren trees'

This is just a stunning render.
The usage of 'bas relief' really got my attention.
Brooding with intrigue.
