Now Let's Get Serious

Here I am thinking, let's get serious
when who am I kidding.
I am the most serious one around.
Not that I pen serious thoughts, my gosh, no.
I can only write what many consider "fluff".
Oh I am venting just a bit
not for attention, not at all.
Just wondering why I am the "chosen one"
to receive the loving criticism,
of all those who wish to let me know,
what it is, I should write.

"I hate when you write sad", one says.
It shows your talent, not.
And If you should  write more than three
It means you've just forgot

That life has so much more to hold
For you, just  take a chance
And you will see, that happiness
Is awaiting your next dance.

Sighing now, I feel depressed
Will someone call this sad?
Or is it just a thoughtful stream
In release to not go "mad".

Have you ever been told you poems "stink"
In a post that's just for you?
And many times, not just one post
And certainly, more than a few.

They've tried to break my spirit.
This time, they may have won,
For when this poem's finished
I, too think I may be  "done".

It's hard to always "front" me
Hypersensitive, they say it's true.
Born this way and for 51 years
What would you suggest I do?

Cater to all those who dislike me so
For reasons, I can't define?
If ever I've felt myself broken,
Today's the day, this time.

It all adds up...one by one
The bricks, now piled so high.
I'm almost closed behind that wall
And shutting my mind's eye.

I think it not so very fair
To always be denied
The me I am, the one expressed
In words, I've sometimes cried.

No tears for me, just another day
Another hurting real.
Hopefully, tomorrow brings
Some sense to how I feel.

To end this now, I've said enough
But one last thing to you,
This IS the warmest respit found
A place I'd settle to.

Thank you....

Feels like one of those moments where your thoughts read like words flashing across your mind's eye and it's all you can do to keep up.  I have a hard time, however, believing the line... "Have you ever been told you poems 'stink'" has ever happened to you.  *S*  Great job!!

who said what to you!!????
let me at 'em!

one of the greatest things about passions is the moderation of this board because negative comments against people are not tolerated... just as it should be in daily real life... i would think this poem stemmed from something that was said on some other poetry board and not here...

as far as writing a variety of moods, you've spoken to my heart here because that's what i do, too.... i write when i'm stressed, i write when i'm in love, i write when i'm angry, i write when i'm sad... and those writers, like yourself, who do the same are the ones i admire most...

nice job with this one... i respect a person who speaks her mind

~ all you can really ever expect out of life is a good apology and some decent poetry ~

it's the truth  but you won't see that here..you will see all levels of writing, all different poets from all walks of life accepting one another and enjoying what they read, sad, funny, sensual...or dark...what a wonderful place this is

thank you..it is a little more work being on a forum that has so many poets and poems to read and respond to. When I first came I just enjoyed being able to read such variety..didn't know if I would grow to love it..but I have and I brought a few others over to take a look and they have remained also....some poets don't like moderated forums  and I don't mind criticism..but if someone is going to choose  to  do so then tell me what it needs to be a better piece of writing...and if they really just don't like my style or my  personality or whatever comes through then I would suggest those persons  don't read me as  my name is there plain to see on each..this happens on many forums..and there are new ones trying to be like passions everyday..but it takes  hard work from many..and you have somehow succeeded here...and I applaud that..by thanking all

now...off my soapbox for the day...

maureen.. you said, ".some poets don't like moderated forums  and I don't mind criticism"

i feel the same way and post at unmoderated forums as well... yes, there are many out there... this one is special and we are all so very glad you are here....

if you want critique, go to "critical analysis" forum... ron has apparently thought of everything... LOL... *wink*... and yes, i agree in full totality... people get to know the poet... if they don't like my style, they don't have to read me... and so be it... god bless... carry on and keep writing your very wonderful verse... you are a talented poet and i enjoy each one

Hi Maureen,
As always, a wonderful penned writing by you. And only my opinion. I have read many poems that you have written, and not one have I not enjoyed. Maybe, that's why I keep coming back to visit. Have a nice day.

I've read a few of your lovely penned peoms and I may not have typed a response to them all, but you can't stop.  I hope you were just venting.
