Twenty-nine and a half days                      Seven percent of the whole
I'm told is the time it takes                Yes, that's what they say true
For a complete lunar cycle                   That is the light she reflects
The time it takes from one                 And they say she has two regions
New Moon to another one                       Terrae - the rugged highlands
A synodic month to complete                   And Maria - the smoothed lows

phases of
the moon faces
of the moon phases of
the moon faces of the moon
phases of the moon faces of
the moon phases of the moon
faces of the moon phases of
the moon faces of the moon
phases of the moon faces
of the moon phases of
the moon faces
of phases

Moonlight, mystical moonlight          She comes from behind the lemon tree
Glowing with a borrowed light       She always does, partly or in full view
Crescent, half, gibbous n' full       Promise of another day she holds free
Phases leave me ever wishful         Once a month she earns a night's leave

Very interesting, and special. As a moon lover, I appreciate it  much.

Thanks Paula for coming in on this one...

history has it that in response to one of Marge's very fine full moon poems (she has written some most excellent ones), I had the temerity to say that I would come up with a phases of the moon poem and dedicate it to her... so this is just what followed... and I had a heck of a time with the graphic... looked different if my screen definition is 640x480 and yet different in 800x600...

but the poem was pure fun...

(shut up, sudhir, nobody asked you about it :

regards,
sudhir
