Lifeline

I’m hanging on with a string of my heart
As long as I can, as frail as it is
For I will not easily ever depart
From the life that is mine and the love that is his

I’m swinging on twinkling stars in the night
Hanging on to a beam of the moon
Just catching a glimmer of light here and there
Before total darkness has me consumed

I’m grasping at  threads on the tail of a rainbow
Trying to catch just one nugget of gold
A prism of colorful rainbow delights
A pocket of happiness for us to unfold

I’m grabbing at twinkling ripples that shine
On the crest of the river that flows gently through
Each glimmer is promise, each moonbeam is hope
Each sunrise is one precious new day with you

I’m trying to grab any light that I can
From rainbows to moon, any lifeline I see
But all of my loved ones, when they near
Tell me the family lifeline is me

the brightest star...the warmest light...
is always the one who we are drawn to...
so how could YOU--NOT be that light for them.
this poem touches me deeply for the message I see in it by you.
you are "grace under pressure" sweet poet.
take care
love to you, dear Liz

There are places inside our souls -
that have never been touched.
There are places inside our hearts -
that need to be loved this much.
