Oh childhood, -- the years of bliss,
Of love that struck me premature!
My Russia, oh, how much I miss
Your warm embrace, so mild, pure!

When passion and emotion surged
And I would lean upon your ribs
And suck the juices from a birch
As milk was dripping from my lips...

And now, you’re flowing in my veins,
In me, my Russia, you abide!
And the thirst for your spirit remains
And the milk on my lips hasn’t dried.

Oh what emotion this piece evokes...the love and loyalty you have for your country is inspiring, Master, and the beautiful way in which you have chosen to express it is remarkable. So well written!
