Storm Down

Bring me thunder,
stake this thick air to the ground
to the ground with a sizzling sword,
dazzle with drenching this braided hair,
touch these eyes with sparklers
of sky fire,
perfume the dirt,
storm down.

Take this cloud
of white bellowing promise
and blow it over and down the pass,
furl the rabbits’ soft,
bead the dove’s feathers
imprint the quails trail,
lay the lupin sideways
and release the scotch broom’s sweet
the sage’s pungent,
storm down.

Dapple across this water
and crease the fabric,
let me see your thread
stitch the sky to earth,
storm down.

Hi Martie,

Oh yes my dear let it rain till next week, this poem is drenchingly beautiful and at a cool 98 in my house I would let it rain in the house just to cool off, very much enjoyed.

Love, Cerenity

Marty ... we've had so much rain here this year , we'd gladly share it if we could

this poems worth at least a couple hours of gentle rain and a cool breeze from the man himself
Hope he reads here at Passions

*sighs* I love the rain...and we had our first good rain in a very long time today.  Wonderful verse here Martie, as always.

What a plea !

On spirits of the ancient ...
I would ask the quenching ...
Cherokee sends invocation ...
forbearance of a drenching ...
'storm down'

I love the stitch the sky to the earth line. When you can see a rainfall in the distance that's exactly what it looks like.....amazing poetry here Martie.......hope you get the rain you need....I may have to come down there and do a rain dance for you..

Rex Allen--I'm sure the man reads here at Passions, but the rain..not sure...just send me some of yours.

Krista--Yes, the rain and a good storm do get the ions going.

Marge--were you dancing when you wrote that...It hasn't worked yet.

ethome--come on down and enjoy the sunshine...would love to see you do a rain dance

Sudhir--thanks for that double wow...you're sweet.

Maureen--You are lucky to have scotch broom in your yard...it grows like crazy in our mountains.  Thanks for the reply...I hope you have some blue sky.

Be careful, Martie. I have it on good authority that Noah said the very same thing!!

Funny.....I took this as a love poem. Either way, it's great!!!

A very visual, piece Martie. I like the line where you said,"to the ground with a sizzling sword". Now that line was very creative and very good! You're one of the better poets on this board, Martie (in my opinion). Great piece and thanks for sharing.
