The Music of Spirits

I can hear the wind
its song is haunting and slow
the music of spirits
across the beams of trees
the leaves whisper
and I know they are dancing
twirling, touching air
in cascading dappled decent.

The giant sunflower is leaning
precarious and fragile into the space
the persimmon tree leaves for its dismayed
and heavy swaying
and bully wind is pushing the tilt
the flow of life’s pattern falls into the yard
callus and indifferent the sun watches
as the last snap dragon dries up and folds its face.

Sway me in you dappled splendor
this day of drying flowers
and waving cotton sheets
let me celebrate the sky with you
clean and bright   oh sway me low
and parting ions pull me in mixtures
of truth and dare and dreamy dimension
singing earth and dirt
and lost time of watering cans
and delicious new corn.

Sing to me wind
you are like a new lover
in your hold on my happiness
and your touch is vibrant
and silkens this parched skin
that thirsts so for your opening bliss
to lay with me on this mattress of grass
with your sweet breath my cover.

I know this feeling -- AS I drive to work in the morning - the roadside trees are dancing-  - the sunflowers droop and sway - nd they all seem to be singing with me - in the joy I feel - You've expressed this beautifully - as always

An enchanting vision here Martie....I loved "across the beams of trees
the leaves whisper
and I know they are dancing
twirling, touching air
in cascading dappled decent."  You have an incredible way with words, a way to make everything seem so real, yet so magical at the same time...It's poets like you that make me want to read poetry forever.  Thank you so much for sharing.

Martie~

I was reminded of the beautiful singing
of ...'they call the wind Mariah !'

So refreshingly reminiscent is your render.

Martie this is absolutely delightful....so well expressed...so tender...so deep and moving...so full of the clean refreshing voices of the wind...so much the friend that speaks from the inner ventriloquists of myth and spirit.....just excellent my dear girl!

Wonderful song of whispering winds....dancing in our souls with haunting joy.  Only for those who take the time and judging by this you did and it expresses the need to for us all to just for once stop to smell the roses.

Sing to me wind
you are like a new lover
in your hold on my happiness
and your touch is vibrant
and silkens this parched skin
that thirsts so for your opening bliss
to lay with me on this mattress of grass
with your sweet breath my cover.

Beautifully written my friend!!!!

Upon the night, a gentle breeze,
Whispers from afar,
Soothing notes; bloom's symphonies,
Sing forth from distant star.
