Precious to me
my three little children
who grace our big back bedroom
with quiet joy and deepest love.
Something so sweet
in the innocence there.
~ ~ ~
Their room reflects my love for them
with Christmas lights year round,
toy parrots hanging from I.V. poles,
and feeding tubes tied up with ribbons.
Music boxes, cheerful posters reading
“Real love begins where
nothing is expected in return”, and
“All my tomorrows depend upon your love”!
~ ~ ~
~ ~ ~
Misty Angelita, five and a half
ringing peals of giggles in delight
when I rock her long, limp body
back and forth in her hospital crib!
A priceless gift, her sole response to me!
Lovely back braided hair, framing
dark flashing eyes that do not see.
What her beautiful smile does to me!
~ ~ ~
Joshua Timothy, two and  a half
bubbling with personality -
so deeply happy on his good days.
Masses of chestnut curls, gorgeous
long-lashed brown eyes,
enchanting wide-mouth smiles!

So aware of me - even without the use
of his body or mouth, he talks to me.
I understand every yearning sound;
whimper, chuckle, gurgle and guffaw!
He does such a good job communicating
without language!
~ ~ ~
Zachary Samuel, one and a half
showing all four teeth
widely in broad smiles
at every touch to his face.
Silky black hair; delicate, expressive mouth;
amazing, how content he is,
all day and all night!
Sight, hearing and intelligence
aren’t required to feel happiness!
What joy he gives us, just by
being here to cuddle!
~ ~ ~
Precious to me
My three
whom I wheel each evening,
back to their cheerful back bedroom.

Rosemary, what a special family you have...this is just lovely! There is nothing any more healing and fulfilling than the love of a child. Thank you ~

Hi Rosemary,
Oh, I enjoyed meeting your children but I equally enjoyed getting to know your sweet, precious, loving heart. I thank God for Mothers like you.  Love, Marcy

SweetRosemary~
And for the time you held them ...
             tender was the touch.

Tender now their memories ...
held in the heart of a mother.
*Hugs* ...

Very good poem. Your poem allows me to picture your children and how much their mother loves them.  Really pulls at the heartstrings.

Martie - you are such a loving and sweet person.

Sunshine - I know you understand.  Thank you.

Sudhir Iyer - thank you so much for your kind words.

hoot_owl_rn - I really appreciate your comments.  I didn’t really expect anyone to respond to this, because it’s not really poetry, just a sort of a love song.

Meadowmuse - thank you so much for your sweet reply.

Alle'cram - thank you for the tenderness in your comments.

Marge Tindal - I know you know, and your way of describing the sweetness of their time, and the fact that they have all gone on ahead of me was so very beautiful.

ethome - thank you so much for your appreciation of my poem.

Paula Finn - it’s so kind of you to say such sweet things about my motherhood.

ggrn3 - thank you so much for your tender comments.

Gemini - I very much appreciate your comments.  Yes, I have learned that moments of time can be very precious.

Thank you, everyone!  You all surprised me very much!  There's a warm place in my heart today!!

P.S. I adopted these precious babies.  They were my joy, and I was privileged to be their mommy.  All three have been gone for years now, but my love for them will never die.  I do believe we'll be together again in Heaven some day.  And they will be well and whole, and I'll get to know them in a new way, forever!
