If and When.....

If and when .....
Just one grain of time
would come to us

If and when.....
one moment to share
the love safely kept

If and when.....
the unspoken desires
were set free from thus

If and when.....
our hearts would allow
all those tears we haven't wept

If and when.....
our souls would entwine
as we reach out

If and when.....
no longer our hearts fear
from which we hide

If and when.....
with just one brief moment
two hearts were aloud to shout

If and when.....
now just sweet memories
for our hearts love to reside

If and when.....
thrown into the wind
as it came and went

If and when.....
reminders of all the paths
where walks with "US" were spent

If and when.....
there no longer is the if
then we have answered when

Mark*
The beauty of this lies within the knowledge
that these "if's & when's" are known...that
the feelings were found and not
undiscovered...life is built on "if's &
when's"...some are meant to be...and some
are not.....making the most of what you have
is most important of all....your writing
shows that you know how to do just that...I
had no doubt of this.  Wonderful writing my
brother in poetry~

Allo Mark, I read this one slowly absorbing every expression beneath the verse and I must say the end "If and when there is no longer an if then we have answered when" just clawed at my heart!

Nice poem indeed

Marina-What do you mean "IF" I had a crystal ball....I do of sorts but it is in the form of a book. ..Just ask and you will see.  Thank you for seeing the beauty of it and "IF" you are going to say "IF" so much then why not take the challenge? LOL

Coco-Thanks, I am glad you liked it and I will schedule an appointment to have the verse declawed...LOL

ARH-yes from the heart it was and the romance is the friendship that will forever shine.  Thank you much.

lakeWalker-The promise of you coming back is the greatest compliment a poet can receive....thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.

Hi Mark,
I did have many feelings reading this poem that you have written. Your words were carefully chosen, at least in my eyes. I like what you write.

Hi Mark--I read this once this morning, but didn't have time to answer and have read it again now, twice...If I could just find the right words, when I did I'd be able to tell you how much I liked this.

will there be a when?

what will I do then?

Bill-thank you so much and my words I did not choose....they chose me....as a poet you know that.LOL   Now go pick up a challenge and see what words choose you.

JulieAnn-Thank you so much my dear and it is so nice to see you spending time with us again.

Martie-you already know that I will hold you to that...a promise is a promise and you did at that.  Now quit stalling and go take a challenge.

Kit-"if" you return with more than exquisite me thinks I will have to give you a kiss.  Thank you for making me smile.

Karilea-
Then my when becomes an if
if I say it there will be a when
because the SWEETNESS of my heart
will send me packing again

This has made me feel so many things.  Discovering is indeed beautiful and the unique beauty of that discovery can be forever in our hearts. I think as much as a heart feels you can't help but reflect every now and again on the What If's........I am slowly learning to take discovery as it is and to realize what "it' was....I am trying to teach my heart how to smile and reflect on the beauty of it instead of the loss as it is never really lost. We do have to live for the here and now and focus on what is.......grow and learn and continue to love all who have been brought to us for whatever time that may be. OK OK I am definitley rambling here.......Sorry......
You have plesently surprised me with this, what a soft shade this has.
You write close to the heart and it is very beautiful.

Jenn E-I am so happy to have provoked all these thoughts that you have.  You are headed in the right direction and slow is the way to go.  This whole poem was about something that could have lent pain after some maddening happiness.....we saw it...we indulged slightly....and we stopped it.  Sometimes restraining a love that could never be is better than losing that love by trying to force a path to it.  You may ramble anytime dear....and I am so glad I surprised you.  Thank you for all your wonderful thought.

Kit-Mmmmmmuuuuuaaaaaaaahhhhhh!  One big kiss just as promised.  Thank you so much for all them thar kind words.

Oh what an amazing poem, these 'words' will stay with me for a while. In fact I like this so much I printed it out and have hung it in our staff room. So all at the hospital where I work can read it.
As always this is a great poem! You know I like it right?

when I utter if
will I know your sweetness then

Oh Mark, this is so stirring. My heart was lost in emotion. I reflected back on so many memories through this. This is a start for me to just be thankful for what me and a special someone have and try not to dwell too much on the ifs and whens. Thank you so much for sharing this lovely gift.
All the best to ya,
Juls

Mark...
you ask all the right questions with this
poetic pondering...
sometimes we are given people in our lives to love and be loved by ...
but not to be "in love" with ...
these gifts of friendship and trust are
a deeper more spiritual bond and
will give both a path to follow and a light to guide them...
I call it  "while loving a butterfly"
YOU KNOW...I KNOW...the person you write this for..KNOWS...
"IF" and "When" has been found ...
your heart is free to know your "when" ...
when it comes ....

hoot_owl_rn-Thank you so much AND YES the whole thing is truth between me and my TRUE soul-mate.

Marsha-That may quite be the most loving compliment I have ever received....I thank you for that and for you.

Karilea-
No longer is there an if
as there will be a when
If you walk with God
knowing there is HIS when
then this is where the love you seek
will be answered with the when

Juls-That is exactly where this came from on this end....thank you and I hope your answers turn out as lovely as mine did.

JM-MY "SWEETNESS"--You are my life and my love and you have helped me and my special friend more than anyone could ever know.  You know you have my thanks and my heart. Hugs sweet one.

Sudhir-Always so happy to hear from you.  Thank you so much for the wonderful....within that one word I see your heart.
