Moonbeams through the window cast soft shadows
                   on the bed...
The darkness helps to ease the demons
             chasing through my head...
Your cutting words were hurled like daggers
              perfect in their aim...
Now, I'm the loser...You're the winner...
                'Master' of the game...

            The game is strictly verbal,
it's a simple game for two...
The rule is universal: see what damage
                   you can do...
The weapons are the words, and they've been
              sharpened--finely honed...
Now all you need is one to play...
            (can't play this game alone)...

It's best if you can choose a partner closest
                   to your heart...
There seems to be more pleasure and it's easier
                     to start...
         You know your partner's weakness,
You can thrust the knife right in...
         Your weapons wait impatiently,
                       So..
               Let the games begin!!!

It starts with simple argument, no need to
                raise your voice...
Just small remarks at first, will do,
each word is quite by choice...
You throw them back and forth awhile...
            You toss the words around...
The object of the first gameplay, is to
             wear
                  your
                       partner
                               down...

And then you pick some cutting words,
              to enter second stage...
They're sharp enough to draw some blood,
and push the game to rage...
That's where the game becomes the fight,
               it's time to zero in...
You're at the point where you could lose...
             (But usually you win!)

The words are aimed precisely now...
They cut right to the bone...
The scars they leave will never heal...
            And you'll be left alone...
         There's always other partners...
But it just won't be the same...
My love made me the prey...and made you
             'Master' of the game!

Sunny,

You've done a superb job on this one.  He may be the master of the game, but you are the master of words.  Finely done, my friend.

Well spoken and written.  Words so often are so easy to say and hurt while alone more than most things combined.

Geez Sunny...I almost missed this one. Me thinks that I had another attack of the blinking eyes, as I went by. You sure tell it just like it is. Well done, as always.

Sunny

Who says that kids don't think before they say things and their words can really hurt.  You certainly have depicted the truth here - but remember that you always hurt the one that is closest to you.  Once the words are said, it is hard to retrieve them. Bite that tongue!!

Great poem.

Hi Michael...
Thank you for the really nice
reply, my friend. It's not the
words so much, as how we use
             them, right?

Hi Marcy...
             I thought I did!! I hate word
             fights....I'm not good at that.
To me, words have a more useful
             purpose. That was the idea
             behind this one.
                Thank you for reading!!

Hi Knight Dreams...
                Thank you, and I appreciate
                 you reading this one!!

Hi Bill....
And thank you for stopping to read!
Well, this one was sparked in real
          life, I'm afraid!!  I lost!!

Hi didi....
Yes, once you spit them out,
they have a life of their own!!
                Thank you!!!

Hello Sunshine....
Ah, now, you really do have
                a wonderful way with words,
and they always make me feel
                          good!!!
                    Thank you, my friend!!

If he be the master of the game then it is only one battle he enjoys as you have won the war.  Your words slice through with too much ease and the pain is all too real...Hope you did run like hell....right through his sorry _ _ _ and in losing you he has lost his one tiny victory.  Well said and with piercing power.
