Even their names speak of power
Cavaliers
           Bluecoats
                     Scouts
                            Vanguard
They work and practice hour upon hour, day after day
Why do they do it?  Only they can say

They give totally, all they have
Body
     Mind
          Spirit
                 Soul
And when they've given all they have, they give more
Why do they do it?  The glory of the corps

They stand ready, horns shining bright
Pomp
     Pageantry
               Tradition
                         Honor
Standing in formation under the shining lights, hearts beating fast
Why do they do it?  These moments don't last

The baton comes out, they begin
Moving
       Twisting
                Running
                        Turning
Out there, it comes from within, on the field
Why do they do it?  It's their destiny, sealed

The power and the passion
The glory and the fashion
The fire
         The energy
                    The emotion
Why do they do it?
It's who they are. . .

If you know what it is. . . then you'll see where I'm coming from here!!  And in case you missed it. . . there was another tie!!!  The Cadets and The Cavaliers are each World Champions. . . Congratulations to both!!

Sven~
What a wonderful tribute you've given these remarkably talented people.

I was able to catch a little of the pomp and circumstance
of the event and was blown away by the talent.

You sure played a hit with this tribute.
I'll just bet the DCI Committee would love
to have your poem of tribute.
You can e-mail them at dci@dci.org

or write them at

What a thoughtful gesture.

Sven,
Your tribute is engrossing and grand, my friend...and how nice of Marge to make such a suggestion. Do get in touch with them!

Sven,

Great poem my friend.  Wonderful tribute to those who choose to participate in this glorious event each year.  Wish I could have seen the whole show the other night.  I know I missed a good one.  Wonerful writing.

Very different writing for you Sven.  Or more that the subject is different.  Of course it is still your flare and talent abound.
