“PRECIOUS THOUGHTS”

It was the very first day of our very first date,
we were sitting on top of that big Ferris wheel.
Oh, you remember don’t you, when we were there,
and our hearts decided to make their own deal?

We were so very young at the time,
hardly seventeen and eighteen were we.
We were just out of baby diapers,
when we started growing a foundation for our tree.

We sat way up there high in the sky,
wow, we were rocking to and fro!
I reached over and kissed you on the face,
the way you looked at me, I thought you’d tell me to go!

I don’t know what it was that grabbed me,
perhaps it was the seat that caught me by the cheek!
But you accepted my ring when I gave it,
and my heart skipped two awfully long beats!

And then I thought, oh my goodness,
I’ve only known her for a day, what did I do?
Darn it, now she’s got my ring,
does she want me to marry her too?

Well you know, it really did happen,
we were married within that very same year.
Boy, we were just crazy in love at the time,
but maybe we jumped in too soon, with no fear.

We settled down and bought a cute little house,
out in the beautiful countryside.
We even made two babies for us,
and we both smiled with so much pride.

Then one day we started to grow apart,
we both knew we were in a jam.
But it didn’t seem to matter whatever we did,
as too much water had gone over that dam.

So we got together and talked it over,
and we both decided to go our separate ways.
Two broken hearts remembering the togetherness,
that we had during each of, those very special days.

Hi Bill....
As long as you keep writing,
           I will forever be a fan! I
loved this story of young love
even if it didn't last. It was
           bittersweet, with just enough
sweet bites to save for later!

                 Beautiful writing!

Today is a gift....
That is why they call it
'the Present'!

Very nice Bill..remember this song?
"They say for every boy and girl
there's just one love in this whole world
and I know that I've found mine..
Young Love...first Love.."
So many times it turns out like this...
but it was wonderful while it lasted..
and lovely memories to savor....James

Hey Bill...I wish that young love could last forever....I guess it does for some, but sadly all to often it fades away as youth blends into maturity and people change with time...However there is nothing on the face of the earth that can be compared to that inital rush of love through the heart and soul.....The realities you have described here so well are also precious memories of yesteryear...I think this is Fab Bill!

I read this one twice and now take the moment to reflect on poetic words you've shared.

Admittedly this is a sweet poem which tugz at heart at begin yet at the end a sigh and tear is shed.

Very nice poem indeed thank u for this read!
