Gold in my Hand

Is the sunlight now drying the wet of the earth
Or are rain clouds relentlessly flaunting their worth
Are the lilies wrapped petals still bursting with dews
Or wilting and losing their beautiful hues

Is the sorrow outcast by the pleasures today
Or is pain of reality making its way
Can I block out encumbrance and joyfully smile
Will my mind allow heartache to rest for a while

Will chronic disease ever leave me alone
And give back in reverence a life of my own
Will the robin stop coming to nest in the spring
Will the meadow lark ever decide not to sing

I  balance life’s offering with joy and respect
For it’s given me much more than I would expect
The fate of the hour was decided above
And this pain’s less severe than the loss of a love

So I look at each moment as gold in my hand
For the joys of the spirit are at my command
And whatever befalls me on this given day
It’s only perception that’s guiding the way

The rain clouds are blessings to lilies sweet bloom
And the lily gives pleasure for me to consume
The petals will wilt as they do every year
And come back to please me when summer is here

My my my I don't know how you can get any better but you just seem to....Your work can be compared to a garden, the words are the seeds you plant in the readers mind and they grow immediately into beautiful word picture flowers.  Elizabeth I love your poetry it always draws my heart right up into my mind.
Reading it is like having gold in my soul.
God bless you!

Hi Elizabeth,
What can I say, except that I like every one that you write that I have read. A pleasant way to spend Sunday morning reading some of your thoughts.

Oh Elizabeth ... the depth of your thoughts and message in this beautiful piece, leave me breathless. To be able to look beyond the pain and sadness and see the light, is a wonderful gift indeed, but to share this with others, is life's great treasure. Thank you for this wonderful verse!

Best wishes me twin,
/Kit

Dear Liz; You are pure inspiration to my heart. You have chosen the road less traveled
and that choice, written so beautifully, touches me so deeply. Love, ellie

in their silent song

I changed how I answer poems tonight, instead of going for names as I usually do because I never have enough time and somehow I seem to be exhausted after feeling the emotions that each poet/ess puts into their work so tonight I went simply by titles and squeezed my eyes so I couldn't see the names and here you are, 3rd one to catch my eye so as always I'll leave a little of me on your poem, cause I know you try to peice me together..

About two years ago, I got something that meant the world to me, it too glittered gold but wasn't real gold but should have been for all the joy it brought me...it was a brooch of two cats linked together by their tails, one black and the other studded with
rhinestones, it shimmered gold...but it was the meaning behind the gift and the tale (g) that told and said so much...it was a parting gift and one that I only ever wear when I need to know that sense of being loved...much like your ring of gold..

You always bring back such memories for me, it's such a pleasure to read you..

Ellie, Your comments are always topped with honey, thanks for the sweetness. I was in K of P yesterday all day. Today I can't walk!
Talk soon

Lizzie, Thanks so much for reading. Your comments always brighten my day
I think I dreamed about Vittorio last night (hehe)
See ya

Cindy, Thanks for another brief look at another tidbit of your life. Interesting about the brooch. When I need love, I drink a cup of hot chocolate. Thanks, dear for your kind response
