she saw herself in her dreams
no longer a dried dead rose
withering away
but a new rose in full bloom
rich in color, weak yet strong
her petals reach for the sun
and smile at each new day
another chance to dance
with the humming bird
she tempts him with her beauty
he smiles at the rose
admiring her pose
waiting to drink in
the sweetness of her
she completes her purpose
just to be the beautiful rose
She turns softly in her sleep
waiting for the next page to
turn as she dreams of more
roses to bloom

BR - I've yet to read something of yours - that hasn't prompted me to reply with the nicest things I can say. This is obviously no exception. Great use of anthropomorphism (sp?)

this is the first(but not the last) of yours I have read. The imagery is spectacular and I especially like...another chance to dance with the hummingbird

Debra...what can I say my dear new friend. This is beautiful and I am very touched by your words. Pages are turning and once more we shall both bloom again.

BloomingRose~
Yes .... very vividly portrayed in dreamlike fashion.

'anthropomorphism \An`thro*po*mor"phism\, n. [Gr. ? of human form; ? man + ? form.] 1. The representation of the Deity, or of a polytheistic deity, under a human form, or with human attributes and affections.'

*Good show, Wilfred !
*Good poem, BloomingRose !

Mike,
Thanks

Paula,
Glad you enjoyed it. I love to watch the humming birds dance before a flower.

Ruth,
Yes, many more roses to bloom and pages to turn.
Hugs

Marge,
Thank you, I am happy you liked it.
I couldn't resist I had to look the word up in the dictionary.

anthropomorphize
to attribute human form or personality to things not human

I have never heard this word before

Long may the roses bloom!!!

This one goes in my library, this is fabulous. It gives me strength, let the summer roses die, we are alive in the forum.

forgive me, I'm in a good mood tonight!!!
