Seven more days
Seven more days till I'm by the water
Salt air washing my lungs
Waves cleansing the city from me
Digging my toes like roots in the sand
Stretching out the road
Pedaling free, one with the breeze

A rare summer, a second week
Another chance to dance with the dolphins
Seven more evenings to watch
The sunset paint the sky,
The moon gradually turn blue
Stars fall beyond my glass
Nights so quiet all one hears are the waves

Yet my ears pick up
I don't hear your slow even breathing
But snoring
I don't feel your fingers
Laced with mine
And I won't wake to your smile
That's what's wrong with this picture

Hi Wil....The scene can be a sandy beach and lots of lovely sunsets, but if the one you love is somewhere else, it's easy to be lonely....I really like the way you write.

I like the contrast in emotion this piece can evoke, as the poem progresses. Fine writing!
