I bet you wondered why today
when you looked my way
you caught my eyes
locked on you
sure they were dreamy
and sort of far away
but locked
just the same
I bet you wondered why
I couldn't help but smile
when you shrugged your head
to your shoulder and grinned and
I bet you wondered
why your rhythm and the tilt of your head
as you sat to think
found me entranced
I bet you didn't know that
my heart jumped when first
I saw you
and I couldn't decide if I should
kiss you
or cry
and I know you would have
thought me crazy but
I bet you didn't know
that I had the almost
irresistible urge
to climb in your arms and smother you
with three years
of packed carefully away passion
and no
you couldn't know
that you remind me so of him
everything about you
brought to life the
memorization of my love
and no you couldn't know
that you momentairly knotted me
to memories the pain of which
I had just this year
been able to turn loose
but if I had found my voice
I might have told you
that even though
tears stain the page
as I pen this verse
to see you
living smiling and breathing
makes his dying somehow
easier to bear, and
if you were ever to read this
it would be a
thank you
to a stranger who never knew
that he helped me turn
the teardrops
in my memory
into smiles

the way you string just the right words together is a powerful reflection of the depth of a very passionate poet... *shaking my head*... damn... now you got me doing it... LOL... really fine writing, K

fingers crossed

Oh the miracles that happen without us or them knowing. I'm glad someone could bring back happy memories to a sad situation!
Well written!

Excellent portrayal of how much a stranger can somehow bring the memories back with both tears and smiles...

But you know, that also has much to do with you..

thanks all, you know you guys mean so much to me, you all know me, know my tears, know my healing, and so you were able to let this touch you in the way that it touched me....thank you for being here for me to share with
and yep rg....you are right, sigh...it was probably more of what I needed in me than anything in him......but....a smile is a smile and a tear is a tear...and I guess sometimes we need both

Its funny the things that help you let go the pain...just goes to show that opportunities  should never be passed no matter how scary or painful they seem to be, even something as simple as a strangers smile...smiles become realities
