F I R E F L Y    I N    M Y    S O U L

Deep inside each soul
    Resides a smiling firefly,
Crimsoned flickering,
Like divine light in the sky,
Deep within each soul
    Resides the lively firefly,
Glowing bright even after
The sun leaves the evening sky.

In the darkest of nights
    Flickers the glowing firefly,
In the coldest of winters
    Bestowing warmth-filled sighs,
In the darkest of nights
    Shines the delighted firefly,
Raising hopes of survival
In the battered heart so high.

Trying to be both - there and here,
Surviving her life - ever in fight.

Queen of many sleepless nights!
Forever willing me to fight
Off pains of the lonely nights.

I can hope to sight rainbows in the sky

THere's a firefly deep inside
The soul of Sudhir where it resides
It is a beacon of love that glows
In day and night in splendor shows
The world of a poet dear and wise
Whose words beam out like fireflies

You have quite an imagination. This is a great poem and the title knocked me over.

This is wonderful, Sudhir - Who can think of fireflies without smiling - and recalling the days we used to collect them in jars to watch their little tails light up?... Nicely done, my friend..

Sudhir, you got me right in the heart with this one. I too am a lover of the firefly.

The firefly,
So lovely, as she adorns our night.
Leaving a trail of glow,
Little golden kisses,
Eagerly recieved,
By the adoring soul.

Thanks for the images,
