Heart-shaped
satin jewel box--
pink,a swan on top.
Edged with lace,
beige with age,
one hinge, and broken lock.
Inside--a ballerina, posed,
in perfect pirouette.
Lift the lid--see her spin,
mirror cracks her silhouette.
Turn the key,
begin beguine,
if only to remember when...
count the pearls
of years, unfurled,
then wind her up again.

This one's mine ! ! !

I have a treasured trove of old music boxes ...
Timely ballerina's dance to the pleasured
treasure of the music.

Already printed - framed - and hung !
Oh, thank you !

wow, serenity - this is so well written!  I love the way it brings the box to such clarity - I swear I can see every detail, and yet you write so cleanly and brief!  Very nicely done.  Wow!

I envision a feeling of great sadness when I read this ... the great thing about poetry is that it can mean something a bit different to each reader
