Did you see the memories of us in your dream?
I know I did.
It seemed so vivid to me.

Seems like I made love with you only
a few short days ago.

Now the years have gone by.
What once I had to give to another
OF my own free will.
I released you.

There was a time I was greedy wanted you all to myself
That was the old me who selfishly took all your love.
I did not deserve to have what you gave.
For I belonged to another.

The years have went by so fast.
Thinking back I knew I did the right thing.
Even though I still hurt inside thinking of you.
The love we once shared.
All you ever did was give to me
Greedily I devoured all your substance
Now somehow in my dismay I feel I have sucked the life out of me.

Just as the saying goes we all have our day
In my quest for such success I missed out on such a sure thing. (YOU)

Mixed feelings of regret - memories all too vivid - In my own way I've felt them too.
I'm trying to look ahead, hope you are too

Irish Rose thanks for response I have found that the memories that you would like to leave always seem to ponder must be because the heart has a memory of it's own.

We all have regrets the trick is to live with them without letting them consume us...memories are just that...and the past is where it should be...behind you.

Your right Paula thanks for response. Today is today and yesterday is the past seems like it all goes by so fast. Some with joy some with pain but when all is said and done I am thankful for them.

Rosebud:

The pain never goes away - it just fades.  Been there - done that.  Anyway, your words are beautiful.  With a new love, the pain will fade even more.

What beautiful words Rosebud...you have clearly suffered in your past...hopefully things are better now and the pain is fading?

Love is like the mumps.....the older you are, the harder it hits you!

It is sometimes hard to look back in our past with choices we have made....but the future holds much brightness for us all...

Lovely read and very much of the heart.

Your so right Mark, sometimes I do find pain in my past other times I'm glad I can look back and remember where I am now.
