Where is the care of people
When companies cover up
The dangers of their product
That's costing consumers lives

I speak here of Firestone
Who's covered up for 9 years
The fact their tires could kill
Safety compromised for greed

They took each s'ngle incident
And they paid the people off
Tied it with a GAG order
So the public wouldn't know

Safety is their number 1
And this is what they're claiming
After the fact people died
Because the tires were bad

Vehicles flipping over
After tires tore apart
It was known in oth'r parts
NEGLECT has killed the public

Why so much greed for money
Does it take the place of life
They think it more important
Than to warn of the danger

The will of God will never lead you, where the grace of God cannot keep you.

They say that 'money makes the world
                  go 'round...
But if we leave everything to those
                 with money,
At what point does their greed and
            carelessness destroy
the very planet we call home?
Do we really want to take that chance?

I found it a great pleasure to
read you thoughts on this subject.
I live in a place where you can
           watch the earth and her
             creatures crying out
              for help, everyday!

I thank you for posting this.........
      Your powerful words were appreciated!

Life is a gift....
That is why they call it
'the Present'!

one has to wonder if and how long the auto makers knew about it and ingnored the facts just to get cheaper tires

It's good that you brought up the subject Rebecca ... It's time to place people above profit

So true Denise...in some cases it is.

Sunny1, thanks for the response. It is really sad to watch what it can do in the wrong hands.  It's a real sad day when Greed takes the place for caring about LIVES.
Dumping toxic waste into rivers and oh man on and on it goes.  God help em!

Thanks Sue! It is sad...something I don't think I'll ever understand, is how people can be like that for the sake of money.
I'd rather be poor and happy than rich and miserable!

Good question Rex! They didn't bring that one up. But is the place Firestone to tell them too.  It is time to place them above profit. You are 100% right!

Thanks Angel girl!

Selfcenterdness, whether it be an individual or a company, will lose sight of how precious life really is.  I'd wonder if their own personal families have been riding on these same tires in these past months.  The midwest will be the last to get replacements, would you ride around on these tires for another year to get free replacements?

It's amazing that a company could do this and not get in trouble more!! Recall the tires, fire all the executives...and make sure the tires are destroyed not reused...I bet the sand down the name and sell them as used!

Sandgrain, I doubt if they knew these tires were killing people, that they let their own family use them. I wouldn't wait for a year to get replacement tires. But I would certainly save those for a year and bring them in.

Thank you Sudhir! When things like this happen it really burns me up. They knew this was endangering lives, it had cost many, many lives. They chose to keep quiet. What other conclusion can we come to as why?

Sharon I sure hope they don't sand it down and sell them reused! It is a shame that they take so little punishment for their actions. What are they really losing here but money?  I'm sure the families of those who have lost their lives over this, don't feel it's strong enough either.

Becky...contrary to your statement via ICQ, this one don't suck.  If anything, it's a vivid social commentary and a customer complaint, rolled into one.  And you've hit the nail on the head...not just with Firestone, but with a whole gamut of big business, who act with impunity and who are untouchable, well, as long as they keep those contributions to the DNC coming in.

ya know, Ford did the same thing with the Pinto...had a bolt that would puncture the gas tank if hit from behind...it sure does leave a bad taste...

Ali thank you! Maybe we should bite back by not purchasing their tires.

Passing shadows, it's a shame when they put people's lives in danger over money. It really is mind blowing to see how people can be so damn greedy.

Not only is it sad but so many people condone it by taking the money and they figure it is worth a few lives if they can make a damn dollar with it.  Wonderful write and such a dramatic way to bring this to light.
