Earth 3rd Rock from the sun!!

0 posted 2000-08-10 06:17 PM

Summer came and went that year
Nothing much to tell about
All that's left now is an ocean of salty tears

And you told me you were in the ninth door down
Stop by if I was ever back in town
You said you'd think about me everyday
I guess life doesn't always work that way
And if I'd known then what I know now
I would have tried to make it work somehow

'Cause you were my lover my friend and my confidant
My friends would ask me
What more I could possibly want
And like a child with a worn out toy
I went in search of a differnet boy
A life I found, a wife I became
A mother of two and still missing you
I wonder where I'd be if I stayed
In the ninth door down
And I remember the poetry you'd write to me
And I wonder if you still have our special key
I wonder if you still believe
And think of me
It's been so long that I've been away
My  first love i've thought of you every day

And you told me you were in the Nith door down
Stop by if I was ever back in town
You didn't think I'd be gone so long
Sometimes what seems right can be painfully wrong
And I'm still waiting by the ninth door down< !signature-->

Julie- Our first love is always the one we will not forget.   The thought of regret in ones choices can hold one back from the pleasures in life and if and when we get that chance to recapture what we thought we had it often destroys the memories of fondness we carry around.  I know from experience on this one.  Never doubt your decisions.....just make the best of tomorrow.
Great write.(psst....check your title)

it doesn't sound to me like there's nothing left to tell about from that summer...
you can't go back in time but maybe you should retrace your steps
this must be a song?
great writing girl!

This is beautiful Julie!  We could spend forever pondering the might-have-beens.

JulieAnn...
The first love seems to stay with
           us forever....and we always wonder
           what might have been....

                Beautiful writing,
                 wonderful poem!

This poem is full of whistful or shall I say wishful longing that rings loud and clear through your words
